Sydney auction tipping
By
Mark Armstrong
Buyers with large families or savvy investors are expected to compete for an eight-bedroom Ashfield property this weekend. One of the five Sydney properties going to auction in week two of the competition is 56 Bland Street, Ashfield. Agent Tony Andreacchio from Raine and Horne is searching for a large family to fill the eight bedrooms. This unique Victorian property sits on almost 800 square metres of land and is within walking distance to train station, schools and Ashfield Mall. Alternatively and savvy investor might look at the unique floor plan, with two modern kitchens and bathrooms, and decide to convert it into two separate residences to give their cashflow a boost. This property does not fit neatly into a box, so it is hard to put a value on it. While the agent expects a sale price of between $1.35 million and $1.45 million, the market will determine its true value on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Mike Quigley, boss of the federal government's National Broadband Network, has also sold his Mosman mansion recently at $3,555,000. It represented a loss on the $3.6 million paid in 2007.
