NSW bargain-hunters looking for discounted central coast property could find gold

Buyers fossicking for discounted properties might strike gold on the NSW central coast. Or even gold bullion bars on Forresters Beach.

Six months ago a good Samaritan beachcomber found a gold bar worth $18,000 on Forresters Beach and turned it into the police.  Although the bar had a serial number, the police were unable to locate its original owner, and this week police handed the bar back to its finder. Talk about striking gold on the central coast! 

Five of the 10 most discounted properties in Australia are on the NSW central coast, according to SQM Research.

The property at 23 The Corso, Gorokan, has had its price hopes slashed to $440,000 plus this week, making it the eighth most discounted property in Australia. The vendors originally hoped for $680,000 when it was first listed almost two years (658 days) ago. 

"With 50% of the list now being occupied by homes from this region, it appears ... that the area is undergoing some serious price correction," says SQM Research director Louis Christopher.
