Chart of the week: Who is leasing office space in the Sydney CBD?
By
Larry Schlesinger
Of the 278,222 square metres leased in the Sydney CBD in 2012, the 'property & business services' sector was the dominant sector, leasing 42% of the stock, or 115,678 square metres, according to Savills. Demand from the ‘finance and insurance’ and the ‘property and business services’ sectors, which make up the majority of tenants in Sydney, continues to build. The two sectors combined accounted for more than 78% of leases signed during the last 12 months totalling a massive 215,528 square metres. Much of this is precommitment for projects completing in 2015/16.
