Freemasons Victoria has appointed Mirvac Group to redevelop its East Melbourne Masonic Centre of Victoria.

Occupying the north-west corner of the site on the prominent Victoria Parade frontage, it will come with 250 new residential dwellings in a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments.

The redevelopment is anticipated to include new state of the art Masonic facilities to cater for Lodges and the organisation’s secretariat.

Changes to the site are not expected to take place for at least 12 to 18 months.

The Grand Master of Freemasons Victoria, Bob Jones said the redevelopment was subject to members’ ratification and planning approvals and that should the decision be ratified by members of Freemasons Victoria on December 19.

Its a Bates Smart designed project that will replace the exisiting Dallas Brooks Hall which is imposing a heavy burden on the state's 149 lodges.

The 2500-seat auditorium has hosted countless performances since built in 1967.
