Investor snaps up Adelaide South Henley Beach “pot” house

The South Henley Beach house that drew the attention of the police earlier this month after real estate listing photos inadvertently showed alleged marijuana pot plants in the backyard, sold at weekend auction for $629,000.

The property in the western suburbs of Adelaide just a few blocks from the beach was marketed by Arthur Dimitrak from Harcourts Mile End who said it sold just above the reserve price.

The photographs of the alleged marijuana plants prompted a surprise police inspection, seizure of the plants and a court date for one of the occupants.

There were eight registered bidders for the house, but only two bidders on the day.

RP Data records show it last sold for $130,000 in 1993.

The two-bedroom brick house standing on a 936-square-metre block and is tenanted until February next year.

The new owner is likely to demolish the existing house and develop the site for townhouses.
