In the late 1800s CARRUM, the small suburb north of Frankston on the way to the Mornington Peninsula, was encompassed by a 52 square kilometre swamp.

In 1879 the swamp was drained to make way for farmland and prevent flooding. It wasn't until four decades later that CARRUM started to become a sought-after coastal village for Melburnians, with the construction of the CARRUM railway station providing improved transportation links to Melbourne. In the same year The CARRUM Life Saving Club was established, which drove further demand and development.

Both still stand today, and are key components of why CARRUM is an appealing spot to either call home or holiday at.

It was the proximity to both the CARRUM Railway Station and the Life Saving Club which attracted developer Elmbury Property Group to a development site on McLeod Road, less than 500 metres away from the two CARRUM landmarks.

Elmbury has recently launched their boutique townhouse development Malia, which will suit both locals and holidaymakers. They've put together a mix of two and three-bedroom townhouses, starting from $710,000.

Inside, residents will be greeted by an open-plan living space that flows into a kitchen with stainless steel Bosch appliances, premium stone countertops with Tundra Blue splashbacks, and custom cabinetry.

Each townhouse has at least two garage spaces and an outdoor entertaining area.

Five minutes from Malia is Station Street, which along with the train station has a small shopping strip and an ALDI.

Some of the highly-rated restaurants and cafes in the vicinity include CARRUM Station Charcoal Chicken, Freddies Kitchen, and The Kitchen Container Cafe.

CARRUM Beach is just 500 metres from Malia, as is Patterson River, which offers the boatie a chance to get on the water. There's also the Dandenong Creek Trail which runs along the north side of CARRUM.

Families won't have to look far for conveniece. Roy Dore Reserve, which offers playgrounds, a fenced dog park, ovals and sports facilities, is less than 10-minutes away, while CARRUM Primary School is a five-minute walk.

Construction of Malia is already well underway, with the move-in date expected to be in mid-2024.

Jellis Craig Projects Director Stephen Bowtell is marketing Malia.
