Angus took on the holding in 2011 after property developer Warren Anderson vacated the property, located around an hour’s drive west of the Sydney CBD.
Anderson, who housed stuffed animals in the ballroom, was forced to depart after a long court battle with receivers following the break-up of his 42-year marriage.
It was furnished with Regency antiques, paintings and French Empire clocks, on the back of Anderson's 20 years success in consolidating development sites for Coles New World.
The Adelaide-based boutique financier, are still seeking permissions to develop 100-lot plus housing on its outer perimeter of the entire 654-hectare property.
Picnic race meetings were held during the brief occupancy of the entreprenurial Simon Tripp and his wife Brenda to provide income for the costly estate.
Fernhill has a great thoroughbred history, as one of the greatest racehorses that ever trod the Australian turf, Yattendon died at Fernhill in 1880.
Winner of the Sydney Cup in 1866, Yattendon produced Melbourne Cup winners Chester (1877) and Grand Flaneur (1880).
The stables are the oldest buildings on site having housed the Irish stonemasons who worked on the sandstone residence designed by the colonial architect Mortimer Lewis.
Fernhill was built by William Cox, an engineer who oversaw the road that passed over the Blue Mountains, for his son Edward.
It remained in the ownership of the Cox family until 1896, when it sold to the Wright family, of Wright, Heaton and Co, who billed their firm as the most extensive carrying firm in the colony.
Anderson bought it from John Darling IV in 1980 for $2.8 million. Darling paid 22,500 pounds in 1955.

Fernhill at Mulgoa boomerangs back onto market

The residential Blue Mountain price record has been untouched for a decade, but that's set to change with the listing of Karoola, the 2008 Wilkinson Award-winning home in Leura.

It was designed for former Federal Court Judge Murray Wilcox and his wife Christine to accommodate their big family – their children, grandchildren along with friends.
Inspired by the geology and landscape of the Blue Mountains, Karoola was constructed with rammed earth, crushed sandstone, blackbutt and hoop pine timbers.
The sustainable single storey main residence was built on its 5,900 square metre Malvern Road holding.

As well as an opening verandah roof, the home was created in a solar passive design, where windows, walls, and floors are made to collect, store, and distribute solar energy in the form of heat in the winter and reject heat in the summer.
There's also a multi-purpose garden studio for painting and music.

The house design uses a Japanese method called discontinuous unity - developed in the 1940's by architects Yoshuzaki and Sakazura - for the incomplete separation of living spaces from one another.
The home was constructed by master builder Gerald Verhoeven, with Professor Max Irvine engineering its verandah roofing. Craig Burton's landscape design saw zoning for endemic and exotic plantings. 
The Blue Mountains price record was set in 2008 when Carramar, a 1900s weatherboard at Wentworth Falls, sold for $3.3 million.
Only four homes in the Blue Mountains region sold for over $2 million last year, although that's well up on the one sold in 2016.

Blue Mountains home in Wentworth Falls listed for mortgagee sale

The site of Katoomba restaurant, Pins on Lurline, and its Federation home and guest house, have been bought by a young family for an undisclosed sum.
The 132 Lurline Street property, built in 1898 by local businessman H. A. Bundy, was sold through an expression of interest campaign which closed in March.
The deal was brokered by Gunning Real Estate sales agent Tom Speakman on behalf of Blue Mountains restaurateurs Simon and Keiko Kjelgaard, who purchased the property in 2012. 
“They are very pleased with the outcome and are excited to move forward with their plans to move to Japan after more than 20 years operating the Pins brand in the Blue Mountains and four years on Lurline Street,” Speakman said.
“The new owner will be running the restaurant themselves and renting out the guest house as a business. They are looking for a change of pace and will relocate from the Sydney CBD. It is an exciting adventure for them as they have a young family and no restaurant experience."
The restaurant seats 60 people. The property has a self-contained garden holiday cottage, Keiko’s Nest as well as a private residence with three bedrooms, Speakman said.
The original house was designed to be built ‘out in the bush’ and the owners operated a small tearoom in the hustle and bustle of Katoomba main street, its website says. 
Pins, formerly known as Pins And Noodles, originated in Katoomba Street some 20 years ago and moved to Leura village before finally coming to rest in Lurline Street, hence the new name, ‘Pins On Lurline’.

Blue Mountains office leased to government up for sale via Raine & Horne

The $9 million asking price for the Peter Stutchbury-designed Invisible House

The Outer West and Blue Mountains region had the highest number of auction clearance rate in Sydney, according to CoreLogic’s latest report.
The property data firm says that out of 10 auctions known to them 90 percent resulted in a successful outcome.
This is followed by North Sydney and Hornsby with 87.4 percent and City and Inner South with 87.2 percent.

Similarly a five bedroom house at <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-house-nsw-castle+hill-125020414" target="_blank">14 Banks Road</a>, Castle Hill (below) was sold for $4.8 million.

Sydney's outer West and Blue Mountains scores 90 percent weekend auction clearance rate: CoreLogic

The passing of time has been a blessing for the bestselling author and TV presenter Tara Moss and writer husband Brendt Sellheim when it came to their Sydney CBD property.
They didn't sell their Bathurst Street apartment five years ago after their tree change shift to the Blue Mountains.
They had sought to offload the two bedroom Lumiere apartment with $1.06 million price hopes in 2012, however the sale didn't happen.
Now after Sydney's stellar five year property price boom, their redundant city pad comes with a $1.65 million price guide through Focus Property Management agent Bernie Mitchell.
The 15th level, 107 sqm apartment - which cost $850,000 purchase in 2008 - is in the complex designed by Norman Foster of Foster + Partners.
After the loft apartment failed to sell, it became an $895 a week rental, then $1,000 and most recently had a $1,150 a week asking rent, reflecting a stellar seven percent yield.

Tara recently spent some downtime in Byron Bay, posing for a photograph on Instagram by a swimming pool.

Tara, who turned red head this week, began life as a model at age 14 and moved to Australia in 1996 on a modelling assignment.

Her debut novel, Fetish, was written when she was 23, and published in 1999.
It went on to win the Sassy Award for Best Novel that year, and was shortlisted for the 2000 Ned Kelly Award for Best First Novel.
Moss's path was destined to turn to writing as she penned Stephen-King type stories to entertain her friends when she was 10.
She married poet and philosophy professor Dr. Berndt Sellhem at a winery in Margaret River in 2009.
Moss is a UNICEF Ambassador for Child Survival and has been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 2007.
Since 2000 she has been an ambassador for the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children.

TV presenter Tara Moss relists Sydney CBD pad

Some 24 three and four bedroom townhouses are slated for development alongside the grounds of the former Katoomba Golf Course.
The residential development, titled Escarpments Estate, is a partnership between Glenstone Group, Andrew Mencinsky and London 2012 Olympian turned property developer, Edward Fernon.
